What is shop credit (tlou9)?
In many neighbourhood shops, customers take their groceries today and pay later: at the end of the week, the month or on payday. In Tunisia it's called tlou9 or kridi, and it has always been written down in a notebook.
This credit keeps the neighbourhood going and keeps customers loyal. But as the notebook fills up, it gets hard to know who owes how much, since when, and what has already been paid.
A digital credit book keeps the same idea, you trust your customers, but it does the sums for you.
What the notebook won't do for you
It doesn't add up
Every partial payment means redoing the sums, with room for mistakes.
It can get lost
One torn, wet or misplaced notebook, and months of credit are gone.
It doesn't remind you
Nothing tells you a customer is past their payment date.
It starts arguments
Without a clear statement, customers are quicker to question their balance.
How it works
Four steps, and your credit book is up to date.
- 1
Add your customers
A name and a phone number are enough. Carry over the balances from your current notebook to start from the right figure.
- 2
Record credit purchases
Enter the amount, and the products if you like. It takes a few seconds.
- 3
Record payments
Full or partial payment: the customer's balance updates straight away.
- 4
Share the statement
Send the balance to the customer on WhatsApp, or invite them to check their credit book from their own space.
Everything you need to track credit
Built for the counter: simple, fast, in Arabic, French or Tunisian.
Every customer's balance
What each customer owes, and the total for the whole shop, worked out automatically.
A credit limit
Set a maximum per customer, or only give credit to the customers you choose.
A payment date
Note when the customer should pay, to spot at a glance who is late.
Numbered credit books
Close a book once it's settled and open the next one. The old one stays archived.
A space for the customer
Customers see their balance and purchase history from their phone.
PDF and Excel statements
Export a customer's statement to print or send.
WhatsApp reminders
Send a polite reminder with the amount due, in one click.
Your currency
Dinar, dirham, euro… amounts follow your country's currency, down to the cents.
Credit book FAQ
Is the credit book free?
Yes. Tracking customers, credit sales and payments is part of the Free plan, with no credit card. The Pro and Boutique plans add more tools when you need them.
Can I carry over the debts from my notebook?
Yes. Enter what each customer already owes you, then carry on with new sales and payments in L3ATTAR. The whole history is then in one place.
Can my customer see what they owe?
Yes, if you want. Invite them from their profile: they create a customer account and check their balance and purchases. You can also send them their balance on WhatsApp.
Can a customer pay in instalments?
Yes. Record each payment, however small: it comes off the balance and shows in the customer's history.
What if I lose my phone?
Your data isn't stored on the phone but in your account, which is backed up every night. Sign in on another device and everything is there.
Does it work in Arabic and Tunisian?
Yes. L3ATTAR is available in Arabic, French, English and Tunisian. Everyone in the shop can pick their own language.
